01. Flame-Retardant Bonding

In battery fire insulation and thermal runaway protection, mica sheets are primarily used for high-voltage insulation and structural fire prevention, PC sheets are applied in electrical housings and battery pack covers, and aerogels provide superior thermal insulation to support battery thermal management and safety protection. Given the possibility of extreme events such as short circuits, thermal runaway, or impact-induced fires, adhesive materials in these applications must exhibit outstanding flame-retardant performance to prevent becoming a source of fire propagation.

To meet these demanding requirements, Crown New Materials’ flame-retardant tapes are UL94 VTM-0 certified—the highest flame-retardant standard for thin materials. These tapes self-extinguish quickly when exposed to fire, produce no dripping, and do not promote combustion, significantly enhancing system safety. Additionally, the tapes combine high adhesion, excellent holding power, heat resistance, electrical insulation, and eco-friendliness, providing comprehensive protection for the safety and compliance of new energy batteries.

 

02. Mica Sheet Bonding

Mica sheets play a critical role in battery modules and packs, providing electrical insulation, fire-resistant thermal protection, and structural support. However, due to their low surface energy and weak cohesion, conventional tapes struggle to achieve effective adhesion, often resulting in delamination or residue during removal, which negatively impacts efficiency and yield.

To address these challenges, Crown New Materials has launched a dedicated tape series for mica sheet bonding. These tapes offer excellent wetting and conformability, enabling rapid formation of a strong adhesive interface. They withstand extreme temperatures and adapt to complex environments. The easy-release design allows residue-free removal, improving die-cutting efficiency. With multiple substrate options and thicknesses, the series flexibly meets diverse application needs, delivering efficient and reliable bonding solutions for new energy batteries.

 

03. Cell-to-Cell Bonding

In new energy battery systems, bonding between cells not only stabilizes the structure but also plays a crucial role in ensuring overall pack safety, operational stability, and thermal management performance. However, cell surfaces are often aluminum casings or laminated materials, making adhesion challenging and placing higher demands on adhesive materials.

To meet the reliability requirements of cell-to-cell bonding under high-temperature, vibration, and other complex conditions, Crown New Materials offers specialized solutions: EPT (Acrylic Foam Tape) and High-Strength Double-Sided Tape.

  • EPT (Acrylic Foam Tape): Suitable for large-area bonding across metals, plastics, PET blue films, UV coatings, and other materials. It provides excellent stress resistance and compressive rebound, effectively cushioning against vibrations and impacts. With high resistance to temperature extremes, UV exposure, humidity, and various solvents, it adapts to harsh environments.
  • High-Strength Double-Sided Tape: Offers strong adhesion for smooth or low-surface-energy materials. It withstands high temperatures, allows clean die-cutting without adhesive overflow, is compatible with automated assembly, and provides excellent weather and shock resistance, ensuring long-lasting and reliable bonding.
